Jamapa River and mandingo Swamp

The Jamapa River is synonymous with live and color, that is what this tour represents, the launch from the cooperative will take us to the place where the Moreno river joins the Jamapa and where the “Isla de los Pajaros” will show us why its called “Bird Island” with its wide variety of birds that visit this zone.  La “Pequeña Venecia” (Little Venice) is a part of the tour where we can observe the houses that line the shores of the Canals and so give it it’s name.

In the swamps we can see the marvel of the mangroves, which are indispensable in the chain of life in the region.  Their roots and branches form strange figures that at times take on the appearance of human bodies and we‚ll need very little imagination to find the similarities pointed out by our host.  The house of the Countess and its history are as mysterious as the house itself, built on the bank of the river.
